    GEORGIA STEAD

Essentially all the compartments of my brain spilled onto one web page. With lots of Sex and the City references.

It's been two months since I last posted something and I'm not sure why. I could excuse it by saying I've been really busy with work or writing music or reading books but I think it's more the lack of inspiration in my current climate. Or I'm just lazy about it. Probably the latter.

So here's some stuff I've been reading, doing, interested in, listening to etc. in the past two months. Just to keep you up to speed.

    MUSIC:
I have been making monthly playlists, currently on my third, pretty sure I briefly mentioned it in a previous post. They tend to contain various genres of new discoveries and blasts from the past. If you want to give any of them a listen then voila...

    BOOKS:
I have some super smart friends who read super smart things, which is how I came about reading Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin, which is then how I ended up loving his work. (I also referenced this book in my personal statement when reapplying for uni, so essentially it is more than just a book, it is a life saver - not too dramatic a statement I hope). It's quite a short novel but writes about love and tragedy and travels in Europe. So it covers all the best literary topics.

Oddly enough, the other book I have read recently also falls under the genre of gay literature when using a quick google search. However it is in a more modern setting, yet still shares that European sunshine, south-of-wherever scenery that Giovanni's Room touches on. Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman, more commonly recognised for the recent film version starring two good-looking hollywood actor types, is a novel that follows the relationship between Elio and Oliver and it's actually really well written and if you want to know more then read it. It is on the more surprisingly explicit side however. Just a heads up.

    INTERESTED IN:
I've been sifting through a lot of archive runway show images recently. I can't tell you what sparked off this activity but I discovered some gems and saved about 200 images of old Calvin Klein shows to my computer, some of which may as well have been taken today with the way that trends have been recycled. These are a couple favourites.

I haven't shopped for clothes AT ALL in the past couple of months which is crazy for me. I've been trying to make a more conscious effort to only buy sustainable clothing that will last me longer and be more of an investment. And looking at all these archive images I feel it's time to invest the money I've been NOT spending in some slow fashion.

    DOING:
Seeing as I haven't been shopping really, I've had to find something else to take up my free time with. Instead, I've been writing a lot of music. Learning how to use GarageBand, messing around with a basic recording mic that can make my voice all echoey, putting together lyrics that do and don't tell realistic narratives. All of the above has taken place this past couple of months. I even did a small cover video (after it was requested). And although the quality is grainy and I start off a bit rusty and look a bit crap, it was fun to do and maybe I'll do some more in the near future. You can watch it below if you want, but no pressure.

I think that is about it for this rather lengthy catch-up post. If you made it this far both congratulations and thanks. I appreciate it. I have some pretty exciting things coming up which will, hopefully, spark way more inspiration than I could muster up over May and June.

(Also, I hope you've noticed and like the new design of the page)

    Thank u for reading.
